Relaunch of SRG SSR's smart TV offerings

SRG's smart TV offerings, which are based on HbbTV technology, were relaunched in mid-February 2017. The focus is on providing a better experience for users and on expanding video services. We put five questions to Martin Spycher from SRG SSR.

Testing center

Each product has to be tested prior to launch so that consumers' expectations are met. With multimedia products, viewers' and users' expectations are exceptionally high. SWISS TXT therefore operates its own testing center. For HbbTV it's even possible to automate the tests.

Multimedia coverage of a major sporting event

The Swiss love major sporting events. The TV stations SRF, RTS and RSI needed a web player for the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup in order to broadcast additional content and set new standards. 09 April 2016 Threefold digital transformation
Teletext

The Teletext service of the SRF, RTS and RSI TV channels has already undergone three digital transformations since 1984. In the first, Teletext was taken from the TV to pagers and mobile phones (SMS). In the second one, Teletext started using the new functionalities of the Internet. Since the third and most recent transformation, Teletext is providing a news service that can be accessed at any time from anywhere using a smartphone. Interactive TV with HbbTV

Merging Internet and TV. HbbTV is a European standard for interactive TV. SRG launched a pilot project for its TV channels. You can now look up multimedia content on SRF+, RTS+, RSI+, RTR+ and SWI+ by pressing the red button on your remote control. Find out more about this revolutionary project.
