The office for the rights of persons with disabilities of the canton of Basel-Stadt has asked people with disabilities to talk about their everyday difficulties in a video. The aim: making the video accessible for everyone. SWISS TXT has been assigned to this task.

Accessible Live streams for the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva

Biel and Geneva, 04.03.2020. In January 2020, the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva started to broadcast - as the first canton of Switzerland - its sessions live on the Internet with subtitles and sign language. By doing so, it complies with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in terms of barrier-free accessibility to audiovisual content. As a subsidiary of SRG SSR, SWISS TXT AG is in charge of the production of subtitles and sign language as well as of the implementation of the required video player.

Access services

People with a sensory handicap also want to have access to multimedia content on the TV. Without access services such as subtitles, audiodescription and sign language this would not be possible. Using the Swiss Federation for the Deaf as an example, we will show the challenges and needs of the deaf when it comes to accessing TV content and the solutions available. Find out more about the subtitles produced by SWISS TXT for all the SRG TV channels.
