A FUTURE WITH A PAST

The demand for digital media solutions shows no signs of slackening. As a Teletext provider in the past, SWISS TXT was also confronted by the digital revolution. Teletext, available for decades on classic TV, was successfully migrated to smartphones and laptops. Over a period of years, this experience of digital transformation – together with numerous multimedia developments and projects – enabled SWISS TXT to establish itself as a service provider for SRG SSR's digital media. 

SERVICE PROVIDER FOR DIGITAL MEDIA AND SERVICES

An online video portal was set up for TV stations SRF, RTS and RSI for the Olympic Games in Rio and the UEFA football championships in France. This included web TV in the form of video streaming (live or time-shifted), plus results applications with game schedules, tables, highlights and statistics. Viewers also found supporting content on SRF+, RTS+ and RSI+, SRG's Smart TV service developed by SWISS TXT. And the J.S. Bach foundation in St. Gallen recently began offering all its cantata concerts to its global followers as a fee-based online video on demand service.

All multimedia applications are hosted on SWISS TXT's own cloud, and content is transmitted via its internal CDN infrastructure. Full-service provider Quickline AG operates its replay service for cable clients on a high-performance video storage facility.

Around 50% of the programmes broadcast by SRG in 2015 were subtitled by SWISS TXT. As well as subtitling, SWISS TXT also offers audio descriptions and language adaptations that give people with sensory disabilities access to TV content.

SWISS TXT advises the management of Swiss Indoors Basel – ATP WORLD TOUR 500 on all aspects of digital content infrastructure and content marketing.

DIGITAL NAVIGATOR

SWISS TXT repositioned itself at the beginning of 2016, changing its company name from Schweizerische Teletext AG to SWISS TXT AG. With this change, SWISS TXT offers orientation, consultancy and solutions for digital media and services. As well as giving the company a new look, the redesigned website swisstxt.ch also forms its core communication element.
