CONTENT4ALL wins the NAB Technology Innovation Award 2020

SWISS TXT is proud to be part of the EU-research project «Content4All» that has received the renowned «NAB Technology Innovation Award».

SWISS TXT is working very intensively on this project with the system integrator and project-lead Fincons Group, VRT and other partners.
Content4All aims at fully automating sign language interpreting. Research is presently being carried out with two innovative technologies, which are based on advanced Deep Learning algorithms which track body, face and hand movements and derive parameters to animate the virtual human. The end-result is a 3D photorealistic avatar, named “realatar” due to its remarkable correspondence to the real person.

This solution offers to broadcasting companies an affordable and sustainable way of conveying content to the hearing impaired in sign language.
Robin Ribback, Head of Innovation Management at SWISS TXT: «The content4all project to me is much more than combining AI and Avatar technology. It is rather a movement towards every day virtually tele presence in TV production also providing more freedom of choice to the deaf. We are proud that we could contribute to this movement as part of the national Swiss public broadcaster».

Unfortunately, the NAB Show could not take place in Las Vegas last April. There the project would have been presented live for the first time. A virtual conference will take place instead to convey the latest trends and news from the digital world. The will publish a virtual show on 13 and 14 May 2020, which will be part of the Innovation Awards presentation.
The NAB accolade rewards organizations that bring advanced technology exhibits presenting advanced research and development projects in communication technologies that have not yet been commercialized.

Disclaimer: this project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 762021.
